Culture is a comfort zone.

Came across a curious quote by Joe Croser- 'Standards are like toothbrushes, everybody agrees you should have one, but noone wants to use yours.' I wonder what the Modernists would say to that. Wade Davis makes a similar point when he questions the need for a 'one world language'. He wonders what will happen when the language selected is Cantonese or Swahili or the language of a native Amazonian tribe. Something to ponder upon.
